Hmm. actually, the character was pulling away from her as he was trying to control himself and he knew he had trouble doing that.This is proved when, much later in the film, he visits Lorelei backstage to end the relationship and she asks for one last kiss. he acquiesces... and he doesn't dump her!! Watch the film again and try to understand why the characters behave the way they do.
